The World White Cane Safety Day is celebrated every year on October 15 to highlight visually impaired people’s achievements and to remind people how white cane can play an important role in helping the visually impaired lives with greater independence. This year YPSA and Federation of DPOs Sitakund organized rally and discussion meeting on “World White Cane Safety Day 16” at YPSA HRDC Sitakund with the support of PKSF on 15 October 2016.
Asgor Mahmud, program manager of YPSA was present as chief guest while Lokman Goni, Vice- President of Sitakund Federation of DPOs presided over the meeting. Mr. Nur Nobi, Mrs. Jesmin Akter and Mr. Joinl Abedin leaders of Sitakund Federation of DPOs gave their speech in the meeting. YPSA staffs, Federation and DPOs members participated in the rally and discussion meeting.
The white cane can be perceived by many as a symbol of blindness or visual impairment. White canes are recognized for providing the visually impaired with greater mobility, allowing them to participate more within their communities.
