Story of an indomitable woman

Nasrin Akter Nasrin Akter is a 30 years old woman who comes from the District of Kushtia. Nasrin has been working at Northern Fashion Ltd for 3 years. She got married in 2010 just after passing the HSC exam. She has a 10-year-old son. She along with her husband came to Gazipur district as her husband worked there. But unfortunately, her husband died 3 years ago. It was a bolt from the blue for Nasrin. But she did not stop there. Nasrin moved on. She did not go back to her village or her parents, rather she started working in this factory. Now Nasrin lives with her son near this factory. Her son has been admitted to a local school. Nasrin is working hard for her son and paying her late husband’s debt to rescue some of his lands. She also dreams of sending her son abroad after some years of working. And her son is also responsible at this age as Nasrin let us know.

“Actually, it seemed quite tough for me to save sufficient money after handling so many personal costs. I send money to the village for my mother and here I have to spend a good amount of money for our living. But after the training, I learned budgets-demands and necessities besides many other things. Now I know what to buy immediately and what to buy later. Thus, I can save a good amount. Now I have 35 thousand BDT in my salary account because I withdraw as much as I need. I have a DPS in Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd. as well where I am saving for my son’s study and paying my husband’s debt.” Nasrin informed us.

Nasrin also told us that she would go back to the village after some years when her son would grow up and be fully prepared for going abroad. And she would do some business in her village. That’s why she is saving to maintain a tight budget. Lastly, she told us that she was happy to be a peer educator.
