Mohammad Shahjahan, Director of Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), has been elected as the Chair of Climate Action Network South Asia, Bangladesh (CANSA BD) for the 2025 and 2026. His election was confirmed at the first meeting of the National Steering Committee (NSC) of CANSA BD, held on 22 February 2025 in Dhaka.
Shahjahan was previously elected as an NSC member during the CANSA Bangladesh Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 22 December 2024, where 11 NSC members were selected to lead the network’s strategic direction. His leadership will focus on strengthening climate advocacy, enhancing regional cooperation, and driving ambitious climate actions in Bangladesh.
As Chair, he aims to amplify community voices, advance locally led adaptation efforts, and enhance policy engagement to address climate challenges effectively. His appointment is a recognition of his long-standing contributions to climate action and resilience-building in Bangladesh and South Asia.
