US Congress, US Embassy, USAID delegates and Winrock International team has visited YPSA-BC/TIP Program activities and YPSA’s Shelter Home for trafficking survivors at Cox’sbazar on 31 August 2015. Ms. Amber B. Brooks, Director, Democracy and Governance, Ms. Emelda S. Mullick, Human Rights & Labour Assistant, Democracy and Governance of USAID, Irinel Cocos, Chief of Party (COP) & Ms. Sheela Tasnim Haq, Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) of Winrock International were present with the delegates.
From the partner organizations Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive of YPSA, Sayed Tamjidur Rahman, ED of Change Maker, Mr. Abul Kasem, ED of Help Cox’sbazar, Mr. Sudip Mondoal, PC, BSEHR, Md. Sirajuddin Belal, Program Manager of YPSA and ANIRBAN Leader Sopna, Ishaq and Imran were present in the discussion Meeting.
Delegates have discussed about the current human trafficking and smuggling situation through the sea route of Bay of Bengal.
The implementing partner of BCTIP Program YPSA, Change Maker, BSEHR, Help and ANIRBAN Leaders has participated in the discussion meeting.
BCTIP Partners has shared with the delegates that human trafficking and smuggling through the Bay of Bengal is a transnational organized crime. To stop this irregular migration need a comprehensive initiative under the prevention, protection, prosecution and partnership.
