Sitakund Upazilla Administration and Federation DPOs of Sitakund jointly observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2017 at Sitakund on 03 December with the support of YPSA and PKSF Bangladesh. The International theme of the day was “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”. Colorful rally and discussion meeting were arranged to mark the day.
Mr. Nurun Nabi, President of Sitakund has presided over the discussion meeting held at the YPSA Human Resources Center Siatkund. Newaz Mahmaud Coordinator of YPSA, Md. Didarul islam Area Manager of YPSA, Mr. Jahangir Alom Project coordinator of Handicap International, Mr. Ali Newaz Emon Chairman of Sayed Saman Foundation were present as Guest. Mr. Babul Debnath, Senior Member of Federation of DPOs delivered welcome speech in the meeting. Mr. Samsul Alom, Ms. Parvin Akter and Mr. Lokman goni have delivered their speech on behalf of Federation. Mr. Joinal Abedin, General Secretary of Federation has moderated the discussion meeting.
“People with disabilities do not get proper support from society. Health services, education, unemployment, physical inaccessibility to buildings and public transport facilities are limited for people with disabilities. Their right to participate in public life is essential in creating democracies, active citizenship and reducing inequalities in societies. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities aims to promote real opportunities for everyone. We need to work together for established sustainable and resilient society for people with disabilities.
