YPSA arranged a meeting on “Smoke Free Cox’s Bazar beach” with Cox’s Bazar beach management committee held at Laboni point on 20 September 2018. Mr. Md. Kamal Hosain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s bazar district and president of Cox’s Bazar beach management committee was present as chief guest in the meeting.
Besides, Mr. A. B. M. Masud Hossen, Police Super; Mr. Mujibur Rahman, Mayor of Cox’s Bazar municipality; Mr. Ashraful Afsar, Additional District Magistrate; Mr. S. M. Sarwar Kamal, Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Tourism) and Mr. Advocate Sirajul Mostafa, President of Awamelague were present as special guests.
Mr. Omar Shahed, Program Officer of Tobacco control Project of YPSA shared the concept of Tobacco free Cox’s Bazar City, importance of smoke free beach and some recommendations for establishing smoke free beach.
The chief guest said that he would take necessary action to ensure the smoke free beach.
Mayor of Cox’s Bazar municipality said that he would stand against tobacco sale in the beach area.
Assistant Police Super, Tourist police; UNO of Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila, other senior officials of different government departments of Cox’s bazar district and Md. Harun, Program Officer of Tobacco control Project of YPSA were present in the meeting.
