YPSA arranged a meeting with the local administration on enhancing the skills of the Person With Disabilities and transportation facilities for them. The meeting was held at Sitakund on Monday under the YPSA Inclusion Works project supported by ADD International Bangladesh. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Milton Roy was present as chief guest while Additional Police Superintendent of Sitakund Circle Ashaful Karim, Upazila Health Officer Nuruddin Rashed, Sitakunda Model Thana Officers in-charge Firoz Hossain Mollah, Sitakunda Press Club President Soumitra Chakraborty, Social Service Officer Lutfunnesa Begum, Youth Development Officer Mohammad Shah Alam, General Secretary of Sitakunda Press Club Liton Kumar Chowdhury were present as guests of honor.
At the beginning of the program, Project Officer of YPSA Shawkat Ali gave a detailed idea about the project through a multimedia presentation.
In the open discussion, the speakers said that Sitakund is an Industrial area and Ship Breaking Yards are located here and for the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, accidents happen here regularly. Most people become disabled. Compared to that, the disability rate is much higher in this Upazila. Employment can be arranged according to the needs of the people with disability. They will no longer be a burden in the society. Now is the time for them to ensure their rights. And by allocating the specified seats of the local vehicles, the leaflets should be permanently affixed on the bus.
Meanwhile, the chief guest said that YPSA has been working here for a long time on the rights of persons with disabilities, their allowances and benefits.
