Democratic Budget Movement formed a human chain demanding Pro-Poor, decentralized and Participatory District Budget for reflecting the hopes and aspirations of the people in general; on June 6, 2013 in front of Chittagong Press Club premises. Professor Dr. Shirajul Islam, Convener, Democratic Budget Movement presided while Mr. Shahidul Islam, General member of Democratic Budget Movement moderated the discussion meeting followed by human chain.
Speakers stated that any budget formulation without ensuring people’s active participation cannot be democratic and therefore it will surely fail to reflect people’s demand.
Representatives from different NGO’s and civil society participated in the program.
