Umme Salima is from a prosperous family. Her father is a businessman and mother is a housewife. Amongst four sisters, four are blind since birth. Her schooling started at the Muradpur government blind school.

From Chittagong Forest Research School, she passed SSC in 2006, and in 2008, passed HSC from Chittagong Government City College. Later, she completed her Master’s degree in 2015, from the department of Sociology of the University of Chittagong. What is more, she also did BA from Teachers Training College, Chittagong in 2017.‘During job interviews, I face lots of problems and discrimination because of my disability’, Salima said. Nevertheless, she wants to be a government school teacher.
