Youth Dialogue titled “Our City, My Thoughts” held in Chattogram

Youth dialogue

YPSA and Dristi Chottagram jointly organized a Youth Dialogue titled “Our City, My Thoughts” with the urban planners, politicians, representatives from media and different professions and youth. The event was held at the Chittagong District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on January 22 where speakers urged next mayor to fulfill the needs of the citizens without making fictitious promises to the citizens.

Academic and cultural activist Prof. Hasina Zakaria Bela, industrialist and former chairman of Chattogram Club SM Abu Tayyab, city planner architect Ashiq Imran, journalist and editor of Ekushey newspaper Azad Talukder, public health expert and entrepreneur of Chittagong Field Hospital Dr. Biddut Barua, organizer and former Youth Head of Red Crescent Society Golam Baki Masood, and Ali Shahin, Program Coordinator of YPSA were present as speakers. President of Drishti Chittagong Masud Bakul spoke at the beginning of the event conducted by Drishti General Secretary Saber Shah.

Speakers at the event said that the city father (Mayor) should be the symbol of love, the superpower of love. Then this city will be the city of love, the city of life. Citizens have a role to play as well as the mayor. He, who will play a leading role in cleaning and eradicating mosquitoes, including fulfilling the needs of the citizens without making fictitious promises to the citizens.

The speakers also said that the city corporation knows what the problems in the city corporation areas are and what will be the solution to solve them. Proper planning, competent leadership and a willingness to work can reduce the suffering of citizens. The youths participating in the event called upon the next mayor to build a clean, billboard and poster free city.

100 students from 15 institutions of Chattogram participated in the program. Participants are Chittagong University School of Debate, Premier University Debating Society, Sardan University Debating Club, East Delta Debating Society, Chittagong University FBDA, Government Commerce College Debating Club, USTC Pharma Debating Club, Port City Debating Forum, BGC Trust University Debating College ECA Club, Prothom Alo Bandhusabha, Rotaract Club of Chittagong South, Drishti School of Debate and YPSA.
