In presence of 15 different INGOs, NGOs, UN bodies, academicians, planners and urban experts, Chattogram Urban Network (CUN) has organized a consultation meeting on City Master Plan at Pitstop Restaurant 10th January 2023. The meeting was organized to gather experts’ opinion from academician and social perspective on City Master Plan to submit to CDA to incorporate in the plan.
Nasim Banu, Convener of CUN and Director of Social Development, YPSA moderated the event. Besides the Technical working committee of CUN, 6 Advisory Committee members attended the meeting. They are: Prominent Architect Professor Jerin Hossain, Ex-Chairman, IEB, Engineer Delower Mojumder, Prof. Dr. Basana Muhuri, Child Diseases & Pediatric Nephrology Specialist, Professor A. B. M. Abu Noman Law Department, Chattogram University, Jasmeen Sultana Paru, Chief Executive, ELLMA, Bidyut Kanti Barua, Primier University, Economics Department, Assistant Professor.
In addition, as a City Master plan expert, Md. Abu Issa Anshary, Deputy Chief Town Planner, Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), project Director (PD), Chattogram Metropolitan Master Plan, attended the meeting. He presented the objective and methodology of City Master Plan through power point presentation and hereafter attended open discussion for expert opinions.
He said, “Keeping SDG pledge along No one left behind, this time CDA prioritize suggestions from city stakeholders of all sectors to plan and prepare action plan for improved economic, social and environmental friendly Chattogram city. He also added that one representative from Chattogram Urban Network can add to the technical committee of City Master Plan Committee to convey all the suggestions and opinions on behalf of the Network.
During the meeting experts from different sectors gave opinions on improved drainage and water body system, long term road and transportation system, disaster risk management, inclusive health services and zone wise action plan
