The World Day Against Child Labour was observed across Bangladesh with the theme ” Let’s act on our commitments: End Child Labour! “. YPSA Free Kids Project, with the support of Solidar Suisse, organized various programs to mark the day.
Colorful Cycle Rally Kicks Off the Day
The day began with a colorful cycle rally by youths in Chattogram city. Around 50 youths participated in the rally, which was led by Md. Ali Shahin, the Focal Person of Advocacy Program, YPSA.
Participation in Government Events
YPSA Free Kids Project took part in the rally organized by the Chattogram District Administration and the Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments (DIFE). The project also participated in a discussion meeting organized by DIFE.
Cox’s Bazar Team Holds Discussion Meeting and Rally
To mark the day, the Cox’s Bazar team of YPSA Free Kids Project organized a joint discussion meeting with the DIFE in the morning. After the meeting, a rally and human chain were organized with the children.
Discussion Meeting at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila
A discussion meeting was organized by the project at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila office in the afternoon. The chief guest at the meeting was Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila UNO Farzana Rahman. She spoke to the children under the project and encouraged them to study and stand on their own feet.
Various Programs Held at Project Centers
Various programs were also implemented at the different centers under the project on the occasion of the day. The highlight of these events was the children under the project. T-shirts were distributed to the children at the Muradpur Center in Chattogram city. A session and discussion meeting on child labour elimination was organized with the children in simple language. The children were overjoyed at this time.
Events in Cox’s Bazar
In Chakfuldandhi, Cox’s Bazar, there was a distribution of T-shirts with the project’s logo among the children, a drawing competition, prize distribution, a session and discussion meeting on child labour elimination, a rally and human chain, and a meeting with teachers.
Discussion Meeting and Human Chain in Seakunda
A discussion meeting and human chain were organized at the project’s center in Baraulia, Sitakunda on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour.
Special posters were also published on the occasion of the day.
It is noteworthy that the organization YPSA has been working on child labour elimination for a long time for sustainable development. In continuation of this, the Free Kids Project is currently being implemented in Sitakund, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar with the funding of Solidar Suisse.
