YPSA organized Youth Champions of the Environment 2022

YPSA Center for Youth and Development (YPSA-CYD) organized “Youth Champions of the Environment 2022” to make environmental stewardship among the youth. As well as promoting their action for building environment resilient world. YPSA conducted the final round of the event in YPSA-HRDC Sitakund Campus, Chattogram on December 20, 2022. Around 150 youths from different parts of the country attended the event. Ten youths were awarded the Youth Championship Award.

The event was inaugurated with hoisting of National Flag and National Anthem Performance. Md. Shahadat Hossain, UNO, Sitakund Upazilla, Chattogram was present as Chief Guest in this inauguration session.

Dr. Amir Mohammad Nasrullah, Dept. of Public Administration, University of Chittagong was present as a special guest. Md. Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive, YPSA has given welcome speech at the inauguration session. He said, YPSA has been organizing such event for the last couple of years. And this will continue. The main objective of this program is to develop youth leadership and fostering the good practices of youth in environmental protection.

After the inauguration, a knowledge session was held on different themes on environment as youth role on climate action, youth leadership, plastic waste management and road to digital citizenship.

Mr. Sohanur Rahman, Chief Coordinator, Youth Net facilitated a session of Youth Leadership, Mohammad ShahJahan, Deputy Director and Head KM4D, YPSA facilitated a session of Youth Action on Climate, Asif Ahmed Tonmoy, Joint Director, Program, Dnet facilitated a session of road to citizenship and Abdus Sabur, Focal Person, YPSA-Plastic Waste Management Project, YPSA facilitated a session of role of youth on Plastic Waste Management.

At the 2nd session, selected invited eighteen youths presented their ideas on Climate Action and Plastic Waste Management in front of the jury board. 18 applications were finally selected for presentation out of 100 applications.

The Jury members selected 10 best Ideas. The ideas are Climate Resilient Schools; Reducing water logging, Give Plastic Take Tree, The Use of organic waste, Re-use of PVC Banner, Climate Action Network, Tetra C (Connecting Community for Climate Crisis), Save the Nature and Cleaning, Handcraft of plastic Waste, Save Forest, Making fancy goods by plastic waste, Climate Friendly Banner (Jute Banner), Paper Made Bag etc.

Award giving 1

YPSA gives Tk 10,000 each winner as an incentive to implement their initiatives. Certificates are distributed to all winners and participants.

The Youth Champions of the Environment -2022 organized with the support YPSA Plastic Waste Management Project, Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF), dnet, YPSA Center for Youth and Development (YPSA-CYD) and Pro Youth Network. Radio Sagor Giri FM 99.2 was the media partner of this Youth Champions of the Environment 2022.
