Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) elected Mr. Md. Arifur Rahman as the Chairperson of the Board of Trust. The BNNRC is a National Apex Body on Community Media Development Working for Building a Democratic Society based on the Principles of Free Flow of Information, Equitable & Affordable Access to Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for remote & marginalized population.
Md. Arifur Rahman had been involving a civil society movement for a policy on community radio since 1998. With long process, in 2008 Govt. of Bangladesh formulate a policy on community radio for installation, broadcasting and its operation. The first Government approved community radio in the Chattogram “Radio Sagargiri FM 99.2” was established in 2012. With the leadership of Md. Arifur Rahman, various community development and communication skills development activities at the grassroots level have been undertaken. Md. Arifur Rahman has been associated with many other social and welfare organizations in greater Chittagong, including a lifelong member of the Chittagong Press Club.
